‘Yes, he is’: Mikel Arteta confirms ‘exceptional’ Arsenal player is ready to start vs Liverpool
Arsenal face Liverpool tomorrow in what could be their most important game of the season, and Mikel Arteta has provided an update on Bukayo Saka’s availability.
The Gunners lead the Premier League table by eight points over Manchester City. However, the champions have a game in hand, so the difference between the two teams is realistically only five points.
Arsenal, on the other hand, has a clear advantage, and a win for Arteta’s men tomorrow would be a huge step in the right direction.
Mikel Arteta’s three-word response when asked if Bukayo Saka will be available for Liverpool’s match against Arsenal.
It’s difficult to choose Arsenal’s best player this season, but Bukayo Saka is right up there.
The Englishman has been a revelation for the Gunners. He has 13 goals and 10 assists in all competitions so far, and he is one of Arteta’s first names on the team sheet.
However, due to illness, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was forced to start him on the bench against Leeds United last week.
Saka did enter the game for the final 30 minutes, but it was clear that he wasn’t going full throttle against the Whites. He didn’t have to because the game was already over.
In his press conference yesterday, Arteta was asked if Saka had fully recovered from his illness and was ready to start for Arsenal against Liverpool at Anfield. The Spaniard responded in three words.
“Yes, he is,” he confirmed to Arsenal.com.
Spylax Opinion:
Over the last decade, Anfield has been a nightmare for Arsenal fans.
The last time Arsenal won there was in 2012, when Santi Cazorla and Lukas Podolski scored their first goals for the club. Arteta was in midfield with Abou Diaby that day.
That was a long time ago, and with the Premier League title on the line, Arsenal needs no more motivation to go to Anfield and put an end to their terrible run there.
Arsenal’s key man will be Saka, who has been in ‘exceptional form,’ and if he has a good game, Arteta’s men should be able to come away with a win.
