Thierry Henry suggests Manchester United sign Harry Kane over Victor Osimhen
According to Thierry Henry, a former Arsenal player, Manchester United should prioritize signing Harry Kane over Victor Osimhen, as both players have been linked to the club. Although Kane is already recognized as a talented striker, Osimhen has made a significant impact this season, scoring 23 goals and providing five assists in 28 games for Napoli, helping them to achieve a comfortable lead in Serie A.
Additionally, Napoli has made history by reaching the quarter-finals of the Champions League for the first time, with Osimhen scoring two goals in their 3-0 victory against Frankfurt on Wednesday, securing a 5-0 aggregate win. It is speculated that both Kane and Osimhen will make high-value transfers this summer, with Manchester United being the most probable destination for both players. However, Osimhen is also linked to Chelsea.
There is a lot of speculation and discussion about which striker would be a better fit for Erik ten Hag’s tactics, and Thierry Henry has shared his opinion. According to the former Arsenal player, if he were Manchester United, he would go for Kane because he is already familiar with the Premier League. Henry believes that Kane’s ability to drop deep would complement Marcus Rashford’s runs in behind, and Kane can adapt to any team except Arsenal. However, Henry also acknowledged that Osimhen is an excellent player who can adapt to various sides and leagues, and his destination will likely depend on his preferences.
‘When you play for a team like Napoli, everything comes to him. But it’s a different ball game when you play in a front three. Balls are not always going to you at big club with three big guys up top.
‘That’s what I want to see: How he reacts when he’s not the only focal point. But other than that he has everything. He can hold the ball up well, he can run into the channel, he can finish well with his head, with his foot.’
Kane is Tottenham’s all-time record goalscorer but is yet to win a trophy with them and that prospect still looks to be far off, and with just a year left on his contract he could look to move away in the pursuit of silverware.
