Ten Hag’s Transformative Influence: Unveiling the Remarkable Journey of a £50m Manchester United Star
Erik ten Hag, manager of Manchester United, has revealed insight into Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s comeback.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka has re-established himself as a crucial player and is certain to start the forthcoming FA Cup final.
Erik ten Hag and his coaching team, as well as the player himself, have worked hard to improve Wan-Bissaka’s form.
Since his £50 million move from Crystal Palace in 2019, the defender has had one of his best runs of form.
Wan-Bissaka resurgence
Aaron Wan-Bissaka struggled with injuries in the first half of the season, but Diogo Dalot kicked on and sought to secure the right-back spot.
Wan-Bissaka has resurfaced and has been splitting minutes at the position alongside Dalot, maybe with a minor advantage.
Ten Hag told The Times that getting to know Wan-Bissaka better behind the scenes had helped his comeback.
“We made an effort in going in his character, we got a relationship, and from there he got motivation, got his chance, he performed, and from there he got more belief,” he explained.
Ten Hag had not been taken with Wan-Bissaka at first. Diogo Dalot received more preseason minutes and started the season as the preferred first choice.
Several right-backs have been linked to Old Trafford this season, but a new acquisition does not appear to be an imminent priority.
If Diogo Dalot signs a new contract, which will expire in 2024, United’s right-back position may be secure.
Wan-Bissaka must continue to improve, but he has shown enough for Ten Hag to want to keep him next season.
