Roy Keane on Mohamed Salah’s Stellar Season: Admits Wanting to Break TV Over Liverpool Star’s Performance
Mohamed Salah has left Roy Keane unimpressed.
Roy Keane has revealed how Mohamed Salah recently enraged him to the point of putting his foot through his television.
After Salah missed yet another penalty for Liverpool, former Manchester United captain Keane made the admission. The miss came against Arsenal at Anfield this time.
Jurgen Klopp’s team, trailing 2-1 at the time, won the penalty early in the second half after Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale brought down Diogo Jota as he came to claim a corner.
After his initial 42nd-minute finish had reduced the deficit, Salah was given the ball and the responsibility of attempting to equalize from the penalty spot. The forward, however, missed the target with his spot kick.
The miss came just weeks after the Egyptian also missed from 12-yards out against Bournemouth. Prior to those penalties, Salah had never missed from the penalty spot for Liverpool.
Not only did Keane doubt Salah’s ability to convert against the Gunners, but he also revealed that the forward’s reaction to missing against the Cherries last month enraged him.
“No I didn’t,” he said on Sky Sports when asked if he fancied Salah to convert from the spot.
“Do you know he missed a penalty a few weeks ago at Bournemouth and I was really annoyed, I nearly put my foot through the television watching it because he was smiling five minutes after he missed it.
“Today I was looking at him and I didn’t feel it, and obviously if you don’t hit the target it’s impossible to score, so I just didn’t fancy him, I don’t know what it was.”
