Rodri identifies two areas where Manchester City must improve to defeat Bayern Munich.
Manchester City will face Bayern Munich in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final on Tuesday.
Rodri believes that to defeat Bayern Munich, Manchester City must get off to a good start and be more aggressive.
City will return to Champions League action on Tuesday when they host the Bundesliga champions at the Etihad for the first leg of what is sure to be an exciting quarter-final tie. Pep Guardiola’s team couldn’t have prepared any better, either, with a 4-1 win over Southampton on Saturday.
Erling Haaland scored just before halftime, and Jack Grealish doubled the lead in the second half to secure the three points. Grealish then turned provider for Haaland, who acrobatically volleyed home, and Julian Alvarez completed the scoring from the penalty spot.
However, it was not all plain sailing as the struggling Saints took the game to City in the first half hour, causing them numerous problems with their pace. Rodri believes City must start differently against Bayern if they are to reach the semi-finals.
“I’m overjoyed. “We came here [to Southampton] to win, and we did,” said the Spaniard after the game. “I think we struggled a little bit in the first half, especially the first 20 minutes.” We had a little trouble finding the spaces. ” The goal calmed us down in the second half and gave us confidence, and we played much better after that. It was crucial because we weren’t as strong and aggressive in the second half.
“We were a little sluggish and needed to move the ball faster.” Looking ahead to the Bayern game, we need to get off to a better start and be more aggressive. We’re on a roll and want to keep it going.
“We are filled with emotion and happiness as we prepare to face them.” A major European rival, and we will have to give our all if we are to stand a chance against them. We need to make some changes.”
Rodri was pleased with the number of goals City scored on the south coast, as goal difference could be important at the end of the season. If City wins all of their remaining games and Arsenal wins all of theirs, except the showdown between the two title contenders on April 26, they will finish on the same number of points.
City currently has a five-goal advantage over Arsenal, and it will be critical to maintain that advantage. “The goals are important because you never know at the end,” Rodri added. “If we are drawing on points, the goals are important, so it was good to score four today.”
