“Real Madrid Eyes on Arsenal Target Moussa Diaby as Top Priority in Upcoming Summer Transfer Window
According to Spanish media, Real Madrid is planning a significant summer transfer for key Arsenal target Moussa Diaby.
Diaby has been highlighted as a main option for the Gunners this summer, with Sami Mokbel of the Daily Mail reporting that the Frenchman is of’serious interest’ to Arsenal.
A move for the 23-year-old Bayer Leverkusen player is thought to be part of a pricey summer recruitment plan for the north London club as they attempt to maintain their top-flight position.
And, with Champions League football returning to the Emirates Stadium next season, Diaby might make the difference in that competition for Arsenal.
Arteta may have seen Real Madrid take on Manchester City in the first leg of this season’s first Champions League semi-final.
If he had, he would have witnessed Real Madrid’s great winger Vinicius Junior smash in a 20-yard strike with amazing force to put Real ahead in the first half.
However, while Vinicius and Karim Benzema constitute a strong offensive duo, and Rodrygo is also emerging as a key player, Los Blancos have very few excellent choices in that area in terms of depth.
According to a fresh report, they will look to Diaby to fix the situation.
Diaby is a fan of mine.
Real Madrid believe Diaby is the ideal addition to their attacking line for next season, according to Spanish journalist Jose Felix Diaz (via Madrid Universal).
He attributes this to Diaby’s versatility (he can play on both flanks) and Real’s lack of a natural winger, as well as his goal-scoring abilities. Such a move is said to be a’smart’ investment.
The Frenchman had a career-high season in terms of goals last season, scoring 13 and assisting on 12 in the Bundesliga.
He has less goals and assists this season, but he has still managed nine goals and eight assists in 30 league games, as well as three goals in six Europa League games.
His signing, though, would present Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti with a big decision if he is still in charge next season, with the Brazil national team optimistic of appointing him.
With the Italian favouring a three-attacker formation at the Bernabeu, there will most likely be a battle between Rodrygo and Diaby for a spot in Real’s strongest XI.
However, having an extra quality attacker would allow Ancelotti to rotate his team throughout the season, providing him plenty of options for those infamous Champions League nights.
