Noni Madueke’s Example Highlights Brutal Truth of Chelsea Transfers and Ruud van Nistelrooy Worries
Noni Madueke’s example sends a harsh message to wonderkid The Chelsea transfer saga continues. Ruud van Nistelrooy is concerned.
Xavi Simons has finally begun to show signs of his world-class potential for PSV Eindhoven this season, and with a big summer move on the horizon, he’s been advised to stay away from Chelsea.
Marciano Vink has warned Xavi Simons against joining Chelsea or returning to PSG in the summer. The 19-year-old has recently been heavily linked with a move away from the Eredivisie as he continues to impress for PSV Eindhoven.
Simons has appeared in 39 games for the Dutch team this season, directly contributing to 24 goals from the frontline. After being tipped as the next big thing at Barcelona, his impressive performances have reignited interest in his signature.
The attacking midfielder left Real Madrid for PSG nearly four years ago, but after struggling for first-team opportunities in Paris, he returned to Spain. Simons has finally begun to live up to his lofty potential since joining PSV, putting him back on the radar of Europe’s top clubs.
With a big move expected in the summer, the teenage sensation has been encouraged to consider a far more modest club rather than Chelsea or PSG, where he’ll be thrust back into the spotlight. Vink suggested a move to Benfica, Napoli, or Borussia Dortmund for Simons if he decides to leave on Dutch TV show Veronica Inside.
“He radiates a lot of fun and just keeps going,” said the former Netherlands international, as quoted by Tribal Football. “I was jokingly wondering if you can outgrow the Eredivisie within a year, but Simons proves it from the start and is decisive at PSV.
” I hope he stays after this season. If he were to go to Chelsea or return to Paris Saint-Germain, he would get much less playing time and his development would stagnate. Then you better go to a modest club in the Champions League where you can still be the man.
“Couldn’t a club like Benfica be a next step for him? Napoli, or Borussia Dortmund? He can be challenged there again. Just look at Noni Madueke. That was such a great talent at PSV and when he left everyone spoke about a big loss for PSV.
“But then he chooses Chelsea, and it’s nothing. Simons is best off going somewhere where he doesn’t have to deal with 34 competing players.”
PSV manager Ruud van Nistelrooy has previously chastised the club’s decision-makers for authorizing the January sales of Madueke and Cody Gakpo. The former Manchester United striker stated in an interview with Eindhovens Dagblad: “I said the ambitions are still there because we play for PSV, but you also know that if your best players leave, you’re less likely to win the league.
“I certainly build in that reality. You can’t hide the unrest within the club either. With the supervisory board, the technical director leaving and from September to March you have no one there. You can already notice the difference that Earnie Stewart is there.
“That just gives a lot of support and peace of mind. There is also a lot more work that can be done. I’m quite pragmatic and take things as they come, but I do care about what I’m doing. I want to give the team a lot of compliments.
“If it is not quiet within a club, it always seeps through and we have to deal with that. The boys and the staff do that with all their might and the staff does that too.”
