Marcus Rashford Sets Ambitious Target for Manchester United Dressing Room after Liverpool FC Humiliation
After Liverpool FC’s response, Marcus Rashford disclosed a target for the Manchester United dressing room. On Thursday, the team rebounded from their Anfield defeat with a powerful 4-1 victory over Real Betis.
Marcus Rashford is aiming for Manchester United to get back on track after their significant setback against Liverpool. United’s last victory at Anfield was under Louis van Gaal’s leadership in January 2016, and there was a lot of optimism among fans that they could break that streak under the leadership of Erik ten Hag. Despite only being one goal down at half-time, United collapsed in the second half and conceded six more goals, resulting in their joint-worst defeat against Liverpool in the club’s history.
Only four days after the humiliating loss, Manchester United had the chance to start making up for it by facing Real Betis in the Europa League, and the players were able to do just that with a convincing 4-1 win. Erik ten Hag was pleased with the result. Following the match, Marcus Rashford spoke to MUTV and emphasized the significance of regaining momentum.
“Good performance and a good win,” Rashford said. “Four goals, so I’m pleased we can start the tie in the right way and obviously bounce back from the last game as well, so it’s now about getting the momentum back that we had before Liverpool.
“We need to put that [momentum] back. I knew I was going to go high [with the first goal] and it’s always nice to start the game well and with a goal. We definitely started the game well, we had an offside goal and a had a couple of chances.
“We started the second half well as well, with the two goals, and it’s important to put us in a good place in the game. We had to stay calm, composed, as we felt like we were creating the chances and that’s the difficult part.
“You have to put it in the net after that. It was a good performance and I’m really pleased with the win.”
