Manchester United defender Brandon Williams mocks Manchester City on their treble victory.
Pep Guardiola and his Manchester City players celebrated their historic triple on Saturday night after winning the Champions League.
Brandon Williams of Manchester United took aim at Manchester City on social media after seeing them accomplish their own historic treble against Inter Milan.
After winning the Premier League and FA Cup this season, City eventually won the big one and became European champions for the first time. Rodri’s second-half winner was enough for Pep Guardiola and his star-studded team to beat Manchester United in the Champions League final on Saturday night.
United supporters have had to face the music on social media, fighting back by raising the flag for Sir Alex Ferguson and his heroes and reminding their “noisy neighbours” that it was United who first won the treble.
Williams followed up on that on his Instagram account with a brief remark to what City had accomplished. “Nobody wants a sloppy seconds…” he added, posting three red devil emojis.
Despite not being at their best on Saturday night – and missing Kevin De Bruyne to injury in the first half – City dominated Inter with Rodri’s winner. Erling Haaland and Phil Foden squandered more chances, while Romelu Lukaku squandered a wonderful opportunity to equalize for the Serie A side.
Meanwhile, Williams wasted little time in replying, taking to social media immediately after the final whistle.
Williams, who came up through the United Academy system, has played 51 games for United since his debut, though he only made one cameo appearance last season under Erik ten Hag and is expected to be made available for trade when the market reopens this summer.
Williams, 22, spent time on loan at Norwich City, where he appeared in 29 games, as Ten Hag and those in charge of transfers look to reclaim a sum for the full-back before his contract expires in 2024.
