Man United’s star appears to have suffered a severe injury just nine days before the FA Cup final against Manchester City.
During Manchester United’s Premier League match against Chelsea on Thursday, there was a troubling injury update.
On Thursday, just nine days before the FA Cup final against Manchester City, Manchester United received a huge injury setback.
Antony, a Brazilian international, looked to sustain a major injury in the first half of United’s Premier League encounter against Chelsea, the Red Devils’ penultimate Premier League match of the season.
Trevoh Chalobah made a hard challenge on Antony, but the Chelsea defender was able to regain the ball. However, the impact left Antony writhing in pain, and he instantly signaled to the bench that he couldn’t continue, while also continuously banging the grass in rage.
A stretcher was quickly dispatched, and the winger was brought down the tunnel to a standing ovation from the United faithful.
However, it is a serious problem ahead of the FA Cup final on 3 June, and Antony’s participation must be a major concern for the Red Devils.
It might be a fourth injury for the match against United’s local rivals, after Lisandro Martinez, Donny van de Beek, and Marcel Sabitzer were all declared out for the rest of the season with long-term injuries.
City, on the other hand, has suffered several new injuries this week. Due to injuries, Aymeric Laporte, Ruben Dias, Manuel Ajanki, and Jack Grealish missed the midweek match with Brighton & Hove Albion, while John Stones and Phil Foden had to be substituted. However, Laporte and Foden were spotted in training on Thursday, which alleviated some of the concerns, although Nathan Ake is also suffering from a hamstring injury.
