Man United to sell their ‘future captain’ and depart as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was flushed.
Manchester United are planning a robust summer transfer window in order to upgrade Erik ten Hag’s team.
Manchester United are ready to sell Scott McTominay and Dean Henderson, potentially causing Ralf Rangnick and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer embarrassment. The Red Devils are gearing up for a major summer transfer window, with a striker and central midfielder at the top of Erik ten Hag’s priority list.
United must acquire finances in order to finalize deals for players such as Harry Kane and Mason Mount. Ten Hag may be obliged to sell some of his periphery players in order to fund the club’s summer operations.
Both McTominay and Henderson are reportedly under fire. The Scottish midfielder has played regularly under Ten Hag and his predecessor Rangnick, but he was linked with a move to Newcastle during the January transfer window.
Henderson has been on loan at Nottingham Forest this season. However, a thigh injury has kept the England star out of action since January.
According to The Athletic, both academy graduates could go to fund a busy transfer season. It might leave Rangnick and Solskjaer looking foolish for making such bold predictions regarding the duo’s United careers.
Toward the end of Rangnick’s disastrous tenure as interim manager last season, the German said McTominay could be a future club captain at Old Trafford. “He is an academy boy, his energy is amazing,” the midfielder’s now-Austria head coach remarked about him.
“He is now scoring goals and showing some leadership abilities.” I wouldn’t be surprised if he became captain of this team in a few years.”
Meanwhile, Solskjaer claimed that Henderson would be United and England’s first-choice goalkeeper in the coming years. “This season has proved to be a great experience for him,” Solskjaer remarked in 2020.
“He’s done himself some favors with his performances, proving he’ll be England’s and Manchester United’s number one at some point.”
“It’s not my job to keep the players happy or in the team or out of it. Part of it is their responsibility of performing and doing well. Dean has made some great choices over the years and developed fantastically – and still is.”
United are planning to sign a midfielder and a striker during the summer transfer window. Mount is reported to ‘prefer’ a transfer to Old Trafford, while Kane and Napoli’s Victor Osimhen are among United’s ambitions for the centre-forward position.
