Liverpool’s player outstanding performance against Brentford deserved a goal
Trent Alexander-Arnold’s ball to Darwin Nunez in Liverpool’s 1-0 victory Brentford was beautiful, but Nunez ruined it.
Liverpool made it six wins in a row with a narrow victory over Brentford on Saturday afternoon.
The Reds welcomed the Bees to Anfield, knowing that a win would keep their narrow chances of qualifying for next season’s Champions League alive.
They were able to secure the victory they so urgently wanted.
Mohamed Salah’s goal in the 13th minute put Liverpool ahead.
No other goals were scored as Liverpool moved closer to the top four.
Trent Alexander-Arnold’s incredible ball to Darwin Nunez in Liverpool’s 1-0 victory Brentford
Salah was named Man-of-the-Match by Jamie Carragher, but Trent Alexander-Arnold was perhaps Liverpool’s finest performer.
Since being put in a hybrid right-back/midfield role, the Liverpudlian has prospered.
Alexander-Arnold’s new role, which sees him shift into center midfield when Liverpool has the ball, has offered him more opportunities to showcase his exceptional passing abilities.
On Saturday, he was at it again, this time with a beautiful pass for Darwin Nunez.

The 24-year-old was in possession of the ball just inside Brentford’s half.
Brentford was defending very deep, with every single one of their players between Alexander-Arnold and their own goal.
But Alexander-Arnold beat them all by selecting Nunez.
Alexander-Arnold spotted the Uruguayan running behind Brentford’s defense and hit him with a lovely lofted ball.
The ball dropped nicely for Nunez about 10 yards out, and it appeared that he would score.
However, the former Benfica player was unable to make adequate touch with the ball, and it went harmlessly out of play for a goal-kick.
Nonetheless, Alexander-Arnold made a fantastic pass.
The pass was deserving of a goal. If Nunez had found the back of the net, it would have been one of the assists of the season.
Trent Alexander-Arnold’s statistics since assuming a hybrid role
During the match against Brentford, Sky Sports presented Alexander-Arnold’s numbers since taking on his new job.
They made for fascinating reading.
Since April 9, the Englishman has led the Premier League in assists, chances created, passes in opposition territory, penalty area entries, possession earned, and touches.
Liverpool have won their previous six games, and Alexander-Arnold’s performances have been crucial to their success.
