Fernando Torres sent off for plowing former Liverpool team-mate Alvaro Arbeloa
Back in Spain, two former Liverpool players let their tempers flare when Fernando Torres shoved Alvaro Arbeloa on the sidelines of a young Champions Cup match.
Former Liverpool teammates Fernando Torres and Alvaro Arbeloa spat on the sidelines on Sunday when Atletico Madrid’s youth team faced Real Madrid.
Torres has been in charge of Atletico Madrid’s ‘Juvenil’ side, which is the club’s under-19 team, for little under two years, while Arbeloa is in the same position for Los Blancos. The two teams met in the young Champions Cup quarter-finals for a Madrid derby, and tempers flared in the ex-Anfield duo’s coaching areas.
The feud is thought to have erupted because, while Real Madrid forward Yeray lay hurt on the field, Torres’ Atletico side did not kick the ball out so he could be treated.
Videos of the former Reds teammates bickering on the sidelines of the game have since gone viral, with the duo exchanging words in full face of Arbeloa’s coaching staff.

Torres got sent off for telling Arbeloa:

The Real Madrid coach appeared to get in the face of Torres, who continued to shove Arbeloa under the noses of officials before walking off. According to a Spanish publication, Relevo Torres allegedly shouted, “I’ll blow your head off,” to which Arbeloa answered, “Start whenever you want.”
The brawl actually delayed the restart of play, with Atletico ready to begin off but wrangling between the two benches forcing the referee to step in. Arbeloa received a yellow card, while Torres received a red card as his afternoon came to an end.
Atletico’s substitutes were also on the field, which meant more yellow cards were issued. Real Madrid advanced with a 4-2 aggregate triumph after the game ended 2-2.

Despite the fact that Torres was sent off, Arbeloa has a history of losing his anger. Liverpool supporters will recall that the former defender once shoved teammate Jamie Carragher on the pitch during a heated altercation at West Bromwich Albion in 2009.
However, given how frequently they lined up beside each other for club and country, one would expect Torres and Arbeloa to be lot closer and on much better tems.
Torres and Arbeloa played together 94 times for Liverpool and the Spanish national team, losing only 10 of those matches.
All of that seems like a distant memory now that they are in control of Madrid’s archrivals. While Torres is said to have threatened the ex-Red star, cameras show Arbeloa as the aggressor in this tragic situation.
