Erik ten Hag has revealed which position he believes Jadon Sancho is best suited for.
Manchester United has qualified for the Champions League. That was always the goal before the season began. The manager deserves credit for attaining a top-four finish.
Slowly but steadily, this group will be transformed into one that matches his playing style. Several players in the squad face uncertain futures at the club. Jadon Sancho is one of them.
Since arriving to Manchester, the winger has battled to find consistency. We haven’t seen him in his greatest form, but we have seen glimpses of his brilliance.
Now, while speaking to the media about
development this season, Ten Hag has revealed which position Sancho believes he operates best in: on the left.
Check out what Ten Hag has to say about Jadon Sancho’s best position:
“He can do both [wings], but I think he prefers to play on the left,” Ten Hag said when asked which wing Sancho should play, according to ManUtd.com.
“But we have seen [that] he is very good on the right as well.”
For what it’s worth, I believe Sancho can play at a similar level in any wide position. He can travel in any direction and in any situation because he is two-footed. He is also capable of playing in the ten.
However, I believe that giving Sancho a true chance on the right side of the team would be good. Marcus Rashford controls the left wing when he’s fit, but Antony is now out for a few months. Sancho needs two games to establish that he can dominate the right side of the field.
It’s a difficult scenario. Sancho hasn’t demonstrated enough to be a regular starter for a club with title hopes, but he has the ability. Perhaps all he needs is a strong run of games before re-discovering his Borussia Dortmund form.
