David De Gea’s Reaction to Harry Maguire’s Winning Decision Propels Manchester United to Victory Over Everton
On Saturday, Harry Maguire started for Manchester United against Everton, with Raphael Varane dropping to the bench.
David de Gea praised Manchester United’s squad depth following the Reds’ comfortable victory over Everton.
Erik ten Hag decided to start Harry Maguire against Everton, so Raphael Varane was rested. Maguire’s start was his sixth in the Premier League this season, and he contributed to the clean sheet.
Tyrell Malacia and Aaron Wan-Bissaka also came in for Luke Shaw and Diogo Dalot in the starting lineup against Everton at Old Trafford, making three changes from the backline that started against Brentford.

The changes, however, did not appear to matter as United defeated Everton 2-0 with a dominant and confident performance.
De Gea was barely troubled throughout the game, and the only criticism leveled at him was Ten Hag’s wastefulness.
“Of course, it doesn’t matter who is playing in the line-up, everyone is ready to play,” De Gea said after the game when asked if he was particularly pleased with the clean sheet given the defensive changes made.
“Even people on the bench make a big impact today, so we have a really good squad.” People are returning from injuries, and it’s great to see everyone pulling in the same direction and fighting for the club.”
“Everyone is going to be needed at some point because we have many, many games and it’s difficult to recover from that, so everyone is ready and training so well and that makes the difference.”
