Christian Eriksen’s Injury Update and Manchester United’s Performance in His Absence
Christian Eriksen played his final match for Manchester United on January 28th when they defeated Reading in the FA Cup. He sustained an ankle injury after a challenge from Andy Carroll, the striker for Reading. The team announced three days later that the 31-year-old would be sidelined until “late April or early May.”
Due to Eriksen’s injury, Manchester United signed Marcel Sabitzer on loan from Bayern Munich on the final day of the winter transfer window.
After Manchester United’s 1-0 victory over Real Betis on Thursday, TV2 Sport in Denmark asked Erik ten Hag for an update on Christian Eriksen’s injury status.
Responding to that, Ten Hag explained: “It is very positive. He healed very quickly. I don’t think he will be ready for Sunday [against Fulham], but he will be ready in April. He is on his way back, and we are happy about that. He is a class player that we need. I can’t wait for him to be back.”
Manchester United has performed admirably during Christian Eriksen’s absence, winning the EFL Cup and reaching the quarterfinals of the Europa League. The midfielder is anticipated to return next month, which will be a significant boost for both Erik ten Hag and the team, particularly since Casemiro is suspended for the next four domestic games.
This season, Eriksen has contributed two goals and nine assists in 31 appearances across all competitions.
