Chelsea Initiate Contact for Real Madrid Star – Player Expresses Desire to Leave to Ancelotti’s Side
According to today’s Mundo Deportivo, Chelsea have emerged as a summer ‘option’ for Real Madrid’s lvaro Odriozola.
Last season, the fullback was limited to 92 minutes of action in six games. He is rumored to desire to quit Los Blancos and return to Real Sociedad with a year left on his contract.
Real Madrid is also interested in the 27-year-old, but on a free transfer. This would be difficult given that the Madrid club paid €32 million to secure his services in 2018.
Chelsea and Athletic Club Bilbao are among the clubs said to have ‘taken an interest’ in the Spain international’s situation.
The tabloid claims that both the Blues and the Basque club have ‘enquired about’ him, without specifying if they contacted Carlo Ancelotti’s side or the player.
Odriozola’s future isn’t urgent for the Spanish giants, according to Mundo, who are instead focused on introducing their new acquisition, Jude Bellingham, later this week and bringing in a successor for Karim Benzema.
With Odriozola presently preferring a return to Real Sociedad, Chelsea would have to persuade him to join them in the summer window.
