Chelsea Eyeing Surprise Transfer for Disgruntled Man Utd Player Seeking Summer Exit
According to reports, Chelsea is considering a move for a Manchester United player ahead of the summer transfer window.
Todd Boehly has not been shy about investing in his Chelsea team, and they are expected to be busy again this summer.
Graham Potter’s side are currently 10th in the Premier League and will be looking ahead to next season.
The goalkeeping position has been a source of contention at Stamford Bridge this season, with Kepa Arrizabalaga replacing Edouard Mendy.
Mendy has been linked with a move away from Chelsea, so the club is weighing its options in this area.
According to a new report from Football Insider, Chelsea are considering a move for Dean Henderson, who is looking for a permanent move away from Manchester United.
According to the report, the ’26-year-old is pushing for a permanent move this summer,’ and ‘Tottenham and Chelsea have already expressed interest.’
The England goalkeeper is currently on loan at Nottingham Forest, where he is no longer the first choice following the signing of Keylor Navas in January.
Henderson has started 18 Premier League games for Forest, but he has been out with an injury since January.
Last summer, the goalkeeper wanted to leave Manchester United in search of regular first-team action.
“I didn’t want the manager (Ten Hag) to come in and be able to see me in training,” Henderson told talkSPORT at the start of the season.
“I knew he’d probably want to keep me, so I tried to do it all before I left for the season. I told the hierarchy I need to go and play football, I don’t want to be here playing second fiddle.
“It was all planned out. I was almost gone before the manager came through the door and I haven’t spoken to him since. To be honest with you, it’s probably been the toughest 12 months of my career.
“It’s been tough, it’s been hard and I’m so happy I’ve got out the other end of it. I’m so excited to be here and ready to go.”
Chelsea were reportedly interested in Henderson and had a £50 million bid rejected while Frank Lampard was manager.
Along with Chelsea, Tottenham is said to be interested in signing Henderson this summer.
Spurs are looking for a long-term replacement for Hugo Lloris, and Henderson fits the younger profile they are looking for.
Henderson is under contract with Manchester United until the summer of 2025, but a permanent move in the summer could benefit all parties involved.
