Chelsea expresses discontent with Thomas Tuchel after back-to-back departures from club following his appointment
Thomas Tuchel has taken over as Bayern Munich manager and is looking to former club Chelsea to help improve the Bundesliga giants’ fortunes, much to their chagrin.
Chelsea are displeased with Thomas Tuchel, who is attempting a double raid on his former club in order to improve his chances of success at Bayern Munich.
Tuchel has taken over as manager of the Bundesliga giants after the departure of Julian Nagelsmann. It is his first managerial position since being fired by Chelsea in September following a disappointing start to the season.
And the German has wasted no time in moving to raid his former club in order to turn around Bayern’s fortunes. His first move was to try to entice Blues assistant coach Anthony Barry to accompany him to the Allianz Arena.
Chelsea, on the other hand, is fighting back and demanding compensation for the highly regarded coach. According to the Telegraph, Barry has been told to’stay away’ from the Blues’ Cobham training ground while his future is being negotiated.
Bayern Munich is thought to have made a compensation offer for Barry, but it is far below Chelsea’s valuation. Barry is eager to join Tuchel at Bayern, and the German manager is optimistic that an agreement can be reached.
Tuchel is not the only person currently at Stamford Bridge who Tuchel wants to bring to Bayern. According to The Times, Bayern Munich is also looking into signing Mason Mount.
Mount is about to enter the final year of his Chelsea contract after contract talks fell through. The Blues are hoping to get at least £50 million for the midfielder, who has been named player of the year twice.
Tuchel is a huge fan of Mount, who was a key member of the 2021 Champions League winning team. Mount’s departure is becoming more likely, with Bayern Munich set to compete with Liverpool for his signature.
Tuchel, the new Bayern Munich manager, has already stated publicly his belief that Barry will relocate to Germany. However, the Telegraph reports that those comments have left Chelsea ‘disappointed’ as the clubs’ negotiations continue.
Those resentments could complicate the negotiations, as Bayern is still far from matching Chelsea’s valuation for Barry. Tuchel will take over as Bayern Munich host Bundesliga leaders Borussia Dortmund on Saturday.
The new Bayern Munich manager led his first training session on Tuesday morning, despite the fact that only a small portion of the first-team squad was present. And Tuchel is not underestimating the challenge he faces.
“The challenge of starting with the match against Dortmund couldn’t be greater. It’s a massive game for all of us. It’s taken on an added edge because of us falling behind in the table and BVB’s incredible run,” he said.
“It’s about generating trust and anticipation, and getting started together. And it’s about laying down a first marker on Saturday. The squad is one of the most talented and best squads in Europe. I’m really looking forward to working with this squad.”
