A year ago, Casemiro was no doubt still celebrating Real Madrid’s fifth Champions League championship after they defeated Liverpool in the final.
Few would have predicted that the Brazilian would wind up at United, who were at the bottom of the Premier League league when he arrived.
Even before he arrived at Old Trafford, the 31-year-old shown an outstanding attitude, promising his agent that he’d ‘fix’ the club’s problems.
After the FA Cup final defeat at the weekend, fans were even more delighted with his approach, assuring everyone that Erik ten Hag’s side were not ‘back’ and had work to do.
Off the pitch, however, not everything has gone so well for the former Real Madrid player, with allegations that he has been cheating on his wife for a long time.
According to Brazilian source Leo Dias, the affair with the Barcelona-based model has lasted five years and will continue until 2022.
Now, the player’s wife, Anna Mariana Casemiro, has responded to the allegations, writing on social media, “Oh man, really?” It’s best to check your sources first; I just looked around and know it’s not him.”
They’ve been together since 2011, when he was initially earning a name for himself in football at Sao Paulo, and married three years later.
They have two children together: Sara, seven years old, and Caio, two years old. The athlete has yet to reply to the charges.
“Thank you all for this first great season and above all for your love towards my family and towards me,” he said in his lone post since Saturday’s loss to Manchester City.
“I feel at home. I read you and I hear everyone say that Manchester United is back, but this is only the beginning of our journey.
“The greatness of this club and this shield must force us to demand more of ourselves. Much more. Here defeat is not acceptable and the glory days must return. For that I have come. Come on United!!”
During his first season in England, he helped United reach the cup final, finish third in the Premier League, and win the Carabao Cup.
