Casemiro denied Manchester United a chance to prove Rio Ferdinand right after “wipes floor” claim against Thomas Partey

Casemiro has been essential for Manchester United this season, but he will miss their match against Arsenal due to suspension, putting an end to another fight with Thomas Partey.

Due to a ban, Casemiro will not face Thomas Partey in Sunday’s heavyweight showdown between Arsenal and Manchester United.

Rio Ferdinand’s earlier statements that the Brazilian would “clean the floor” with the Arsenal midfielder will not be put to the test at the Emirates. Casemiro, a summer signing from Real Madrid, is having a significant impact on the Red Devils as they continue to climb the standings.

Crystal’s five-game winning streak came to an end on Wednesday night secured a late draw. It was a double blow at Selhurst Park as Casemiro was given a yellow card, which will rule him out of the trip to north London this weekend.

Arsenal has only been defeated once this season, at Old Trafford in September. They’ve since created a dominating lead at the top of the Premier League, but they’ll be put to the test against Manchester City. Partey has been essential for Arsenal thus far, but Ferdinand does not consider him to be Casemiro’s equal.

He earlier stated on his podcast Vibe with Five: “He [Partey] is making some passes that I was unaware of. Have you seen those passes at Atletico Madrid? What about the Champions League?

“Both sides may make a case for who is more vital to their team. But when it comes to statistics, Casemiro destroys him. I don’t believe Partey is capable of doing what he needs to do defensively. Casemiro is doing. I don’t think he has the impact to do defensively what Casemiro is doing for Man United.”

“My analysis before the season was that we needed the 6 position, and he is fulfilling that role,” Ferdinand said of his effect. We had a lot of debates throughout preseason, but you need the right guy, and we have the right player. I am thrilled for Manchester United and this squad to have him because he is pushing Manchester United to new heights.”

Erik ten Hag has downplayed Casemiro’s absence, implying that either Fred or Scott McTominay will be called upon. Ten Hag has been quick to point out that United’s 3-1 triumph over Arsenal came without the Brazilian. “We beat Arsenal without Casemiro the last time, so we know how to do it.”

United have only won one of their three games without their Brazilian midfielder this term, whilst they’ve a 69 per cent winning rate in the 16 games he’s participated in. Gary Neville has told Sky Sports: “Casemiro getting booked ahead of Sunday against Crystal Palace is a massive blow because he’s been pivotal to them. Erik ten Hag was shaking his head when the yellow card came out and so was I at home.”
