Carlo Ancelotti has alleged that Liverpool engaged in unfair play and has clarified how it impacted their performance against Real Madrid in the second leg of their Champions League match in Spain. As a result, Liverpool suffered a 6-2 aggregate defeat to Real Madrid.
Carlo Ancelotti, the manager of Real Madrid, has provided an explanation for why Liverpool was knocked out of the Champions League and has also commented on his team’s tactics. Ancelotti claimed that his team engaged in “cheating” and identified this as a key factor in Liverpool’s defeat.
In the second-leg match, Liverpool lost 1-0 to Real Madrid, resulting in a 6-2 aggregate loss. Liverpool needed to score at least three goals to advance to the quarter-final, but Real Madrid prevented them from creating many clear chances to score.
Afterwards, Ancelotti spoke about what his side did to stop Liverpool and explained what he thinks “cost” the Reds. The Madrid boss went on to joke that his side were “cheating” on a psychological level.

“I think we played and managed it well,” said Ancelotti. “We didn’t defend with a low block and we tried to handle the ball well.
“We had opportunities and we were solid at the back. It’s the match we wanted.
“Pressing up has cost them. [Luka] Modric and [Toni] Kroos handle this type of match very well. They get the ball out very well from behind.”
Ancelotti added: “I liked the team. On a psychological level, it is cheating.
“We had a three-goal lead and we haven’t slowed down on the accelerator”.
