Arteta sees potential for improvement in Bukayo Saka’s game, despite impressive performances for Arsenal
Mikel Arteta has gotten a lot out of Bukayo Saka at Arsenal, but he warns his rivals that the England winger has a lot more to give.
The 21-year-old has been in excellent form this season, scoring 12 Premier League goals to help Arsenal maintain their lead at the top of the table.
Saka also scored a fantastic goal for the Three Lions in their 2-0 win over Ukraine at Wembley on Sunday, continuing his incredible form.
Arteta believes Saka’s consistency this season is unusual for a player his age, but he also believes the youngster can do much better.
The Spaniard says there is significant room for improvement in his young star, despite what we have seen from him so far, in a warning to rivals and possibly a message to the player himself.
‘Yes,’ Arteta said when asked if Saka had room for improvement.
‘First and foremost, I believe you must recognize what he has been doing. The consistency he’s shown at his age and at this level is unusual. He’s handled it normally.’ If you ask me if he has room for improvement, I’d say he has a lot. He’s never satisfied, he’s always looking for more, and he still has the ability to do a lot of things better and more efficiently.’
Saka’s current Arsenal contract expires in a little over a year, but the club is desperate for him to sign a new deal and is willing to offer him huge terms.
