Antony reacts to Manchester City’s FA Cup final failure and commits to Manchester United
Man United forward Antony has delivered a message following the club’s FA Cup loss to Manchester City at Wembley Stadium.
After Manchester United’s FA Cup final defeat, striker Antony released a defiant message.
For the first time, Manchester City played United in the FA Cup final, and it was Pep Guardiola’s side who struck first through Ilkay Gundogan. The City captain scored the final’s fastest goal after just 12 seconds to put United on the back foot, though the two sides were level at the break thanks to a controversial penalty awarded at Jack Grealish’s expense after VAR instructed referee Paul Tierney to review a possible handball.
United equalized from the penalty spot, but Gundogan put City back in front early in the second half with another volley that proved to be the game-winner. United’s season ended in defeat at Wembley, but winger Antony was quick to note out the club’s progress under Erik ten Hag this season.
United won the Carabao Cup in February and finished third in the Dutchman’s first season in command. Antony was one of the club’s high-profile additions last summer, reuniting with his former Ajax manager at Old Trafford, and the Brazil international maintained that United will improve further this summer.
“Proud of our team!!” he wrote on Twitter, despite being denied a cup double. “A very intense season!! We were champions, we are back in the Champions League. We will be even stronger next season!! Proud to be United.”

Antony was absent from United’s matchday squad at Wembley due to a leg injury sustained against Chelsea, leaving Jadon Sancho and Fernandes to fill the wide positions. The 23-year-old showed great promise in his first season in England, finishing with eight goals and three assists in 44 games across all competitions.
